KendriyaVidyalaya No.2, Madurai started functioning with effect from 15.04.2004 due to the efforts undertaken by social workers.
Vidyalaya started functioning up to classes VIII - single section.Within 4 months, two sections were sanctioned up to class VIII due to the heavy pressure from the public and availability of space in the building.
